Wyoming Calls
Sean and I went to Wyoming for our seventh wedding anniversary in July and agreed we would do a family trip before the hunting season was in full swing so we snagged the last weekend before bow season starts up.
Grandma offered to keep Baker and we took her up on that. I normally like all of my babies together but since we were planning on early mornings, late nights and spending a majority of our days outside, we decided she would probably enjoy her time with Grandma more. Luckily we had a lot of updates and photos sent our way. I was chomping at the bit to get back to her Sunday night. I swear she doubled in size from Thursday to Sunday. How.Did.That.Happen? Buddy and Sis kept asking to get home to their Baker Baby too. Sibling love.
Back to the trip. Papa Kenny retired two weeks ago so he was able to tag along. It has been so nice to see him more and every.single.granchild. is over the moon for him. We left Thursday night after work and arrived in Wyoming around 10pm. We have some friends there that have turned into family. We had a slumber party and were excited to catch up. We finally went to bed around midnight and started Friday at 6am.
We went fly fishing then headed over to a new spot and Sean told River to put his climbing shoes on. It wasn't QUITE what I had envisioned him climbing down into but he did so good. I asked him if it was scary or fun, he said "Scary going down but fun coming back up!" Love this kids heart for adventure.
We met up with friends for a BBQ that night. It always feels so good to be around this group. It's a whole bunch of people we don't get to see enough that step in without missing a beat and love all of our kids so good. Buddy and Sis can't get enough of all of them. Neither can Sean & I. Dance partyyyyyy.
Saturday we fished in the morning, took a breather in the afternoon for a movie date, then Sean, Buddy and Papa Kenny went out for evening fishing. Sis and I took a nice long nap. She would wake up without opening her eyes and put her hands on my face and say "I love you so much, Mama. I do." I still feel like I need to pinch myself. How did we end up with such sweet babies?
Sunday we left by 5am (& guess what? Starbucks wasn't open. AHHHHHHH), it was the prettiest morning but it didn't take long for the wind to pick up. The kids were exhausted so we spent a better part of the morning watching movies in the car and snacking. We would get out and go for little hikes, check on Sean and Papa Kenny and then someone would want a snack, need to pee, be too cold....
We had the best time with just the two of them. Sometimes it feels like a balancing act to spend one on one time with each of the kids and it's so much fun to get them on their own and pick up on their traits. I can honestly say it doesn't seem to bother them nearly as much as it bothers me that there isn't more time in a day.
